John Peel's Shed

In 2002 I won a competition on John Peel's Radio 1 show. My prize was a box of 150 records from John Peel's own collection and recently I've done a radio show featuring the best tracks from those records. The show is called John Peel’s Shed and is on every Sunday in May at 9 pm on Future Radio, 96.9FM, online at futureradio.co.uk, where podcasts of the show are available.

I first visited Future Radio as research for my book Radio Head. I had been quite rude about some people in my book, so thought I would give it a go myself to see how difficult it was to be on radio. It was after spending time at the station and seeing people passionate about radio and doing their own shows that gave me the idea to do this show. Ever since I won the records I’ve wanted to do something with them, make people aware of them. Listening to Peel's show was a huge part of my life for so many years, and I've been aware of how lucky I am to have such a collection. I hope people like this show as much as I've enjoyed putting it together.”
