Taiyo Matsumoto was born in Toyko, Japan in 1967. He made his manga debut in 1986 in the magazine COMIC AFTERNOON, with the short story, STRAIGHT. Heavily influenced by French comics he travelled to France to study there. His art style subsequently changed dramatically to the unique, alternative look seen in TEKKONKINKREET, in 2006 it was turned into an animated feature film.
His has also created the boxing serial, Zero, the domestic drama, Hanao, the sports manga, Ping Pong, and the Moebius inspired, No. 5.
